An entertaining evening for the exchange of national traditions “My Motherland Is My Pride!”

In January, students of the 2nd and 4th year of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Lily Bailey, and Duncan Wilder, were trained at our school to improve their research. Yesterday, January 30, with the purpose of awakening love and respect for Kazakhstan through the traditions and customs of the Kazakh people, for foreign students who took part in school life for a month and taught lessons to schoolchildren of our school were organized an engaging evening.
This event was organized by curators of our school Sultayaeva N.N., Orynbekova N.T., Sadyrova K.L. and the teacher of self-knowledge Naymanova K.K. in order to awaken the love of NIS students to their homeland.
All participants are dressed in national costumes, and I think this was the most special event of the evening. During the game, by asking four questions to Duncan and Lily, they were divided into two teams. Two teams played games like “Bestas”, “Asyk” and “Tayak Tartys” after it was shown how to play such games. In addition, during the game, a group of girls put Saukele on Lily’s head and introduced the tradition of “Kyz Uzatu”. Through these games, foreign students became convinced that our country is rich in traditions. Lily and Duncan saw that our ancestors raised their children from generation to generation with national traditions, customs, good manners, and prohibitions.
As a solemn closing ceremony, the hosts invited guests to the table, explaining that the presentation of national dishes shows the hospitality of our nation since ancient times. At the table, the students explained to the guests in English how to make kurt, bauyrsak, talcans and kazy. Baurzhan Serikuly, who was the judge of the evening, performed kuy “Akku” of N.Tlendiev on the sacred dombra. According to ancient Kazakh traditions, distinguished guests are not allowed to leave empty-handed, so the handmade articles made by our students were presented to the most respected guests of the evening Lily and Duncan. Lily noted that she appreciates and will never forget our hospitality and respect for them. I think that this evening was very interesting both for our students and guests.
