Semey schoolgirl became the winner of the eco-festival

Pakzhan Niyazbek is a student of the 11th grade of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Semey, took 1st place at the Green School eco-festival among eco-clubs of schools, colleges, and universities in Kazakhstan. The 10 best projects were selected for the final of the festival, organized by ECO Network and Almaty city administration.

– We learned about the festival through the Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs. Our school is a full member of this federation. Thanks to this, our students learn about various thematic events at the international level held under the auspices of UNESCO, and they themselves take an active part. And Pakzhan, who took part in this event, not only took the 1st place, but also received a certificate for 300 thousand tenge, – says teacher-organizer-curator and secretary of the Federation at our school Aigerim Zhumaniyazova.

The project of a student of NIS PM, Semey, who was declared the winner, talks about a device called “Water from air”. Its relevance lies in the extraction of fresh water from the air.

– Device “Water from air” – a method of obtaining water from the air through condensation. Atmospheric water vapor generated from rain, fog or dew condenses on the cold surface of the grid and accumulates in a reservoir located at the bottom of the structure. Productivity is directly dependent on the weather. But according to my calculations, it is possible to get up to 100 liters of water per day, says Pakzhan Niyazbek.

The reason for the implementation of this project was a study conducted in five villages in the densely populated southern region of the country. There is a shortage of water in these villages. The goal of our young researcher is to help the villagers with his project.
