The merits of our students were included in the ” Best One Hundred Scientific Projects of the Year.”

The joint research work of the students of “Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Semey”, Zhamilya Zhunusova (grade 11) and Dina Mayzhanova (grade 8), was included in the “Best One Hundred Scientific Projects of the Year”. The winners of the republican contest organized by the National Center for Innovation Research “Bilim-orkeniety” worked throughout the year on the theme: “Identification of the properties of medicinal herbs growing in the Kazakh steppe using the works of art and determination of the chemical composition”. The study was carried out in integration with subjects of Kazakh literature and Chemistry.

“The idea of researching the properties of medicinal herbs in our country arose after reading the essay by the writer Talap Sultanbekov “Sasyrdyng sүti”. We did not know anything about ferule plants before. In the course of the research, we collected and investigated the medicinal herbs of our country, ”said Zhamilya Zhunusova, an 11th-grade student.

It should be noted that the young scientists were supported by teachers of the Kazakh language and literature, Nazgul Mautkhanovna and a chemistry teacher Meruert Kudabekovna.

“We are always ready to support our students. Already now we can say that the first stage of the study is completed. The next stage is ahead. In the future, our students are going to study the chemical composition of the healing herbs in the mountains and steppes of our region. We plan to work together with medical centers. As a result, we want to find out what healing properties the ferula plant has”, said the project managers.

Thanks to the project, the goal of which was to contribute to the development of the domestic pharmacological industry, the students were honored and awarded a special certificate and badge from the organizers, and their teachers were awarded the 1st-degree diplomas.
