Chairman of the Board of AEO “Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools” Anuar Zhangozin introduced the new leader to the staff of NIS Semey city. Narken Burkenov was appointed director of the branch.
Narken Sovetkanovich was born on September 19, 1985. He graduated from the bachelor’s and master’s programs of the Semipalatinsk State University named after Shakarim with a degree in mathematics. Completed the Bolashak program at the University of Sussex, UK, majoring in International Teacher Education.
Since 2011, he has been working as a teacher of mathematics, since 2020 he has been the head of the methodological association of teachers of mathematics. Since 2022, he has been appointed Deputy Director for Scientific and Methodological Work of NIS Semey.
She is a republican STEM trainer, co-author of the textbook “Mathematics for Grades 10 of the Intellectual Schools” and the course “Development of Subject Competences of Mathematics Teachers”.
Narken Burkenov’s candidacy is appropriate for the position of director of the Semey NIS, taking into account 16 years of teaching experience, of which 3 years in a managerial position.
Bagdan Toktamysovich Kaiyrzhanov, who previously held the position, left the post due to his retirement.

The Semey Intellectual School under the leadership of Bagdan Toktamysuly has been developing steadily over the past 10 years. Pupils achieved high scores on the results of external summative assessment. School graduates study at the best domestic and foreign universities. The “Olympic School”, “Research School”, clubs of different directions also give considerable results. Over the past three years, 8 students have become winners of international and 12 republican Olympiads.
NIS Semeya was successfully accredited by the Council of International Schools in 2017 and received an international school degree.
Bagdan Kaiyrzhanov for many years of work in the field of education was awarded the badges “Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan” and “Y.Altynsarin”, as well as the medal “Kalaga Sinirgen Enbegi Ushin”.
