Meeting with Veterans of Afghan War

This year, 28 years since the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. Despite decades of history, the decade-long war has not yet been fully upheld. Nevertheless, internationalists – warriors who took a military oath and paid their debt to their homeland far from their native land – are exemplary for the younger generation. Afghan veterans, who are contributing to the development of our youth as patriots and patriots, often say that love of the homeland is the quality that everyone should have. On November 24, the Semey war veterans arrived at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in our city and met with students.
During the meeting, soldiers-internationalists, who devoted their lives to the ages of the past, talked about their military life during a meeting with the students. Alexander Tsvetkov and Sovet Aytbaev, who came to the meeting, gave great lessons to students. Raigul Kairkenova, the Deputy Director for profile experimental studies, noted that the students are aware of the Afghan war.
– Dear students! We’ve had two lessons with you about Afghan war before. You have heard of the Soviet Army combat. In that war, our compatriots were among the Soviet-era young men who were able to serve their civil duty before the Motherland. Today we meet them and hear the situation in the battlefield. If you have any questions or concerns, veterans are ready to answer, “said Raigul Altynbekovna in her opening remarks.
The pupils learned about the difficulties they had seen in the battlefield, from the time they received their soldiers’ armies to the army until wartime. He even heard about what they are doing in today’s peaceful world and how much support they have from the Government.
– In July 1979, I graduated from the College of Transport in Semipalatinsk and received my diploma. We were immediately invited to the military commissariat by the end of college. If you know, the army recruitment season is held in spring and autumn. Nevertheless, I was taken to the army in the middle of summer and attended several training sessions for a few months and then passed through the border of Afghanistan. Nobody asked us to go to war. We took a military oath and took arms. Even though the war was carried out on the territory of another state, we have already fulfilled our international duty. If you understand that, otherwise we are not invaders, we have not shot peaceful people, “said Alexander Tsvetkov, a veteran of the Afghan war.
– I agree with Alexander. Many have different views on the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. But he does not know the truth. One of the reasons for our intervention in the Afghan war was that the then Afghan leader asked for help from our country’s leaders. Secondly, we have protected the south of our country from a variety of armed groups that are now “terrorists”. It is not easy to tell the story of the war. We lost many friends. We did not tell our parents, friends, relatives that we were in the war for 2 years. Of course, they knew we were in Afghanistan, but they did not know we were fighting, “says Sovet Muratovich.
In addition to the war theme, students, who listened to the stories of veterans, also sent questions about the personality of soldiers – internationalists.
Deputy Head of the School for profile experimental studies Raigul Kairkenova summed up the meeting and thanked the veterans of the Afghan war on behalf of the school staff. She presented handmade gifts of 8th grade pupils to our veterans.
