Competition, where the national record was beaten.

Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Semey in association with the Public Association “Kazakhstan Speed cubing Federation” organized the next speed-cubing championship. The championship under the name ‘KSF Semey City 2018’ was attended by about 60 nimble-witted intellectuals who came from several cities of the republic. ‘KSF Semey City 2018’ – is one of the largest ‘KSF City’ competitions entered into the series of the championship.
According to the approved requirement, the championship must take place in all 16 cities of Kazakhstan. The competition, which is of particular interest among students, started in Semey. This time, Russian Roman Strakhov, a 2-time European champion, a 6-fold world record-holder of 5×5 Rubik with eyes closed, winner of the 2nd stage of the ‘Amazing People’ TV show and as a special representative of WCA (World Cube Association) Maria Zhits joined the competition. As you remember, Roman used to come to Semey. At the June international championship ‘Semey Open 2018’, which took place in our knowledge center, he broke the European record and surprised the audience.
– This time I came not as a competitor, but as an organizer. This is true that during my first trip I was amazed to see the interest of children from Semey in building a Rubik’s cube. The competition was held at a very high level. Judging by the number of participants, I can say that Rubik’s cube has a great future in Kazakhstan, – said Roman Strakhov.
The two-day competition passed according to 14 different parameters, approved by the WCA (World Cube Association). The participants had no age limit. Therefore, the youngest participant is 9 years old, and the oldest was 39 years old. According to unofficial data, there are more than 10,000 people throughout the country who are keen on this ‘puzzle’. Of these, 700 people are from Semey.
As a result of the competition, Roman Strakhov, Alikhan Yertursin, Alimzhan Kenesbek, Amir Myrzagaliyev, Ali Magazbekov, Akhezhan Shargali, Yerdos Toleugaziev, Akezhan Askar became the smartest winners and on behalf of the organizers they received medals, achievement and special monetary certificates. Among the winners Yerdos Toleugaziev by 6×6 parameter, Akezhan Askar by 7×7 parameter beat the national record that has not been renewed for the last 10 years. Thus ended the foremost competition spreading joy everyone.
