Semey Intellectual Receives Invitations from Four US Universities

Shyryn Nurlybek, a 12th grade student at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Semey, has been accepted to Georgetown University in Qatar, fulfilling her dream of attending a prestigious American university.


Shyryn, who is fluent in English, says she was drawn to American universities because of the quality of education and teaching methods offered. She had the opportunity to apply to several renowned institutions, including New York University Shanghai, Bucknell University, and Bates College, but ultimately chose Georgetown University in Qatar for its strong reputation in training specialists in various industries.
Georgetown University in Qatar, located in Doha, Qatar, was established in 2005 and attracts students from 65 different countries around the world. Shyryn is one of only three applicants from Kazakhstan to be accepted to the university this year.


Shyryn has a keen interest in international diplomacy and is passionate about public speaking and addressing societal issues. She credits her experience participating in UN model conferences at the school and international level as helping to shape her worldview and desire to contribute to society.
As a testament to her academic prowess, Shyryn scored 8 points in the IELTS and 1470 points in the SAT academic assessment test.
