NIS teachers from Semey become winners of the UNESCO International Competition

The teachers of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Semey Arai Agalarova and Nazym Adaspaeva became the winners of the UNESCO international competition. Our colleagues achieved this victory by participating in the international online forum “Connecting schools online for inter-cultural teaching and learning: IITE-UNESCO Associated Schools Network pilot project for Shanghai Cooperation Organization countries”, organized by the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education and HEDU.

– The main purpose of participating in the competition was to share experiences on how information technology helps to educate during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is not to say that this competition was easy. First, we participated in webinars hosted on the HEDU platform and discussed various online resources that help online learning about global issues. The competition was held in English. My colleague Arai Gabidenovna and I made a video on the topic “Combating climate change.” The video tells about educational resources that support online learning and help students develop research skills, – said Nazym Maksutovna.
In addition to our country, the online forum was attended by teachers from countries such as China, India, Pakistan, Russia and Tajikistan. The video clip of our teachers, recognized by the jury as the best, will be posted on the UNESCO website. They will also receive a special certificate and tablet from the organizers.
English language and computer science teachers have been working in the Intellectual Schools for over 11 years.
