Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Semey held the intellectual games for the elderly with the goal of implementing the project “The continuity of generations”. The event was attended by high school students of our school, librarians, educators, organizers, curators and parents. This year, the pensioners, who work in various fields, such as sports, education, medicine, agriculture, etc., were invited for meeting with our students.
“We have been working on “The continuity of generations” project since the beginning of the current school year. During this time, our students have met with a large number of respected people and learned a lot about their rich life experience, and also took into account all the instructions. Our project covers several areas. One of them is that we would like to see the excellence of the older generation in various intellectual games”, says Zhanerke Meiramgazykyzy, teacher-organizer-curator.
The intellectual games in the school library began with questions to grandparents by our students. Our children asked different questions and spoke about their interests and learned about the views of last-century youth on their life, work and surrounding people, and accepted this as an example to follow. The students also presented their talents to the older generation. For example, Dayana Urzakanova prepared a video about elderly people, and Aigerim Aitkazinova played kyui. Moreover, the instrumental group “Via”, consisting of 10th grade boys, performed a song in English.
“Respect for elders should be embedded in each of us. Taking care of them existed, exists and will exist as a sign of humanity. Today’s meeting has inspired many. This is a strong bond between the school and parents. For us, this is celebration to be part of this event that you organize. I am grateful that you do not forget about your older brothers”, said a sports veteran Amantay Kazimov.
During the event, the older people with students were divided into several groups to exchange the views on such school values as lifelong learning, global citizenship, respect, health, honesty and responsibility.
