GIN is not only a global initiatives network, but also a platform of free opinion and a powerful project that looks at how to solve these problems. The GIN goals correspond to global citizenship, a quality that a true 21st century leader must have. The “Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Semey” hosted the second city conference, which brought together the projects of students indifferent to the serious society problems.
– 100 students attended today’s conference. They defended their projects that they worked on all year. Whatever project we take, each of them is important. The students worked within the framework of the large social and educational project “Serving to society”. In a society there are charitable activities that school students are able to do. We just need to be able to give them a right direction. In the process of project implementation, each student acquires many human qualities, such as responsiveness, mercy, kindness”, says Larisa Abylkasymova, Deputy director for educational work of “Nazarbayev Intellectual School of Physics and Mathematics in Semey”.
In addition to educational institutions of our city, the partners of the Intellectual School also took part in the conference: “Boarding school for hearing-impaired children”, “House of mothers”, “House of elderly people”, correctional center “Zharkyn Bolashak”, and a language school “Lingua town”.
– We work together with the “Nazarbayev Intellectual School”. Due to this, about 30 children from socially vulnerable families receive a lot of help in their self-development, besides the fact that they also enrich their English vocabulary. We began to achieve positive results in the English acquisition thanks to the volunteers of the Intellectual School. We are very grateful to them for this”, said Yelena Mikheeva, director of the “Lingua town” school.
At the conference, the students familiarized guests with various projects, and the children were given the opportunity to exchange experience with each other. Each project is valuable for its purpose. For example, the project called “Caring Hands” of “Tarbagatai” Shanyrak is aimed at helping children suffering from Down syndrome. Shanyrak members provide psychological and moral support to children with Down Syndrome, and also teach them to understand that they are a part of this community. This is a tool for educating any younger generation.
All participants liked the conference, the participants were awarded special certificates and prizes. This event is planned to be held in the future.
